“For me, art is as vital as breath, a type of survival quality control. I come to the canvas with few preconceptions, at times only seeking an experiment, undertaken to find something new or unforeseen.

At times I find this process disastrous, like the beginner unable to find clarity, seeking a way out, only to destroy the image and begin again. Some of my influences are Andreas Eriksson, Tormory Dodge, Keltie Ferris and others.

A theme that runs through my work is the collision of ecology and human agency. My latest works consist of organic and geometric, pattern-like marks together to show this contrasting urgency.”

Brooklyn-based James Antonson is graduate of Kutztown University, Pennsylvania where he studied fines arts and art education. He has shown at galleries and festivals in New York City and Brooklyn, NY.  He teaches art in Brooklyn, NY.
