James C Varnum

Newton, MA

I am an experimental painter working in watercolors and in alcohol inks. I studied art in both Boston and San Francisco, and hold a B.F.A. from the San Francisco Art Institute. My paintings are combinations of layered colors, movements, textures, and lines/marks on traditional watercolor papers and on substrates such as Yupo and Terra-Skin.

I currently exhibit at the Copley Society of Art-Boston. Small works in the downstairs gallery. I a exhibiting in an exhibit featuring "art in families" at the Gallery at Depot Square, in Peterborough, NH. I have paired some of my work with the drawings of my late father, Harold.

My work is on site at 13Forest Gallery in Arlington.

I participated in small group exhibits at Beacon Gallery, SoWa, Boston.
