Steven Edson

Belmont, MA

My camera works as a tool not only to document what is outside of myself, but an attempt to look closer at the mysteries which exist within. I organize reality by looking at it thru the frame of a camera. I am often surprised at the transformation an image under goes from reality to the printed and framed piece. It is this distillation of elements which compels me to continue exploring my the world and my surroundings.

Born in NYC and living in Belmont, MA, I have been photographing for over 40 years. My primary concerns with making photographs are to find subject matter that I have both an emotional and visual relationship to and explore the potential for making art that is relevant to me as well as for an audience who can appreciate my vision.
