Alix Halman Travis, Her painting's life begin and end with watercolor

For me the painting life begins and ends with watercolor. Summers are spent painting with watercolor alla prima, en plein air and those summer paintings are the source of inspiration for oils or multimedia collages. Evident throughout my work is an intentionally strong sense of place that derives from my interest in history, traditions and how man has altered "this" place as opposed to "that" place. The work is intended to be a lively representation of an area rather than a particular place.
