I grew up painting, and first discovered pastel 20 years ago when my uncle sent me a box of pastels in the mail with a note attached: “I think you might enjoy these.” He had no idea. I studied art at Georgetown University and later at the DuCret School of Art, and have been painting fulltime for the past 17 years.
I was recently invited to demonstrate pastel painting techniques at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, in conjunction with the William Merritt Chase exhibition (Nov 2016).
My work has been shown at the Butler Institute of American Art, Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, Muscarelle Museum of Art, The Lightner Museum, and others, is in the permanent collection at the Fruitlands Museum, Harvard MA and is in private collections on five continents.
It’s a beautiful world out there. The joy of discovery, lifting layers, seeing things freshly, that’s my recent focus.
