The “Portrait Project” by David Fox.

These black and white photographs are of men and woman with breast cancer by Boston-based photographer David Fox. The photographs premiered in 2010 in an exhibition titled, “Illuminating the Survivor’s Spirit,” at The New England Institute of Art.

Fox is a graduate of Emerson College and has been a professional photographer for over thirty-years. Finding himself widowed in 1993, with two small children, he reexamined both his life and goals.

“The Portrait Project” emerged from this time and illuminates Fox’s deep desire to personalize breast cancer and to chronicle the courage and inspiration he discovered in those afflicted with breast cancer.

Fox is a sponsor and advisor to the board of ArtbeCAUSE Breast Cancer Research Foundation and an ArtSpecifier member artist.
